#21 Punks verdaderos

Joe Strummer de The Clash falleció a finales de 2002. Estaba yo celebrando la llegada del nuevo año con algunos amigos, cuando se me ocurrió brindar por el finado. Me quedé solo en el brindis, pues nadie sabía de quien estaba hablando; es mas, se rieron de lo que acababa de proponer. Lo curioso de todo es que algunos de ellos (a quienes apenas puedo llamar ya amigos, ya que después del colegio perdimos bastante contacto entre nosotros) eran de los mas punks del lugar, metidos de lleno en la escena hardcore punk de Zaragoza, frecuentando el arrebato y otros centros sociales, pero todo esto sin tener ni idea de la existencia de un pionero de toda su adorada escena.

Al fin y al cabo, lo mas importante es la música, las canciones, pero para un aficionado a un estilo determinado de música, para alguien que se considera parte de una escena, me parece esencial conocer sus orígenes al detalle y tenerse conocidos al dedillo, sin ir mas lejos, a The Clash antes que a otros muchos advenedizos del punk.

Resumiendo, que me parece paradójico que aquellos que se consideraban mas punks que el mismísimo G.G. Allin, no supieran del pobre Joe.

Va por ti, Joe, que yo si que brindé, sin ser punk ni nada de eso.
